The curriculum is built on strict biomechanical principles developed in traditional martial arts to prioritize injury prevention and functional longevity. Proper stance work (static and grounded karate stance movements) strengthens the stabilizer muscles around key joints, building isometric strength. Controlled striking drills develop the neuromuscular coordination and proprioception necessary for safe, high-intensity training. Trained core-focused contractions minimize injuries of extremities. Despite all the martial arts advantages, missing of select muscle engagements is reported if only a single martial art is practiced. This is where complementary, modern resistance fitness comes in. For FIMA, overall bilateral and rotational movements are specifically designed to correct the muscular imbalances and chronic pain often found in desk-bound professionals.

Shotokan Karate's grounded stances, core-activating and precision strikes/kicks/movement — combined with Taekwondo's explosive, high-velocity kicks. The two arts are viewed by Dr. Gvozdenov as complementary: strength, stability, and precision from Karate, cardio & agility from Taekwondo. Minimal time on belt ranking — maximum time on functional skill that transfers to real physical capability.

How Zlatomics Sports Was Born

Zlata was frequently observed by the neighbors exercising intensely in the beautiful West Concord forests and trails. Neighbors numerous times approached Zlata for advice on various exercises, and muscle and joint strengthening. Impressed by her knowledge, they were keen on the possibility of regular classes.

Given that a significant portion of her day was already dedicated to personal exercise, Zlata decided to share this training time with the community.

Meanwhile, Zlata was completing a real estate extension of a detached dwelling, which could accommodate larger fitness and martial arts classes. Zlatomics Sports launched shortly after.
